The Failings of RelgionThrough most of the known parts of human history, there has always been some form of what we call religion, but why? Some claim that there really is some greater power that is trying to contact us, but if that is the case, why have there been so many different "faiths" throughout history? Others claim that it is from the influence of extraterrestrials, but even though it is entirely likely, I still have my doubts as to how it works. To me, religion is simply the means of enslaving man. Why god?Man invented gods because he is lonely!Why god?
Mankind continues to believe in a higher being, such as gods because he feels a need to know that there is someone that he can always count on, just as a child might have an imaginary friend. Since man is fallible, people have invented the idea of gods as a replacement for the people in every day life that have failed them. Though the reasoning behind why man needs to know he has someone he can trust is as of yet unknown to me, signs of using higher beings as a replacement for other humans can be seen easily in the religion of the ancient Greeks. No one can be told what their purpose is since it is an intrinsic part of your soul which means that one must search the greatest depths of one's sould to find anything.
